... and as for fire and theft...
Who in their right mind would want to steal a burning car?
Tried to take the breakdown cover off the bike policy. Not possible Sir. Even though I can see it's underwritten by a different set of bookies from the policy breakdown.

Ahh, Nature's abundance!
Out picking blackcurrants again this morning. Have to take the early ripeners to keep ahead of the blackbirds.
Thought they had vanished but no, they've found them, but live and let live.....
So next year I'm getting a net, gun and chaining a hungry cat to the bushes.
Woodpeckers are here every day now. Quite new to Ireland.

One of my kids yelled to his brother to look at all the blackbirds in the garden. So I had a look, they were crows not blackbirds and there were a lot of them so I asked the elder son to call the police, when he asked me why I said I suspected it was a case of attempted murder.

We wandered out last night for a family trip to the countryside..... to do a little stargazing.
Mainly to see if we could spot the Neowise comet.
And we did, very clear.
Low on the northern horizon but bright and big enough to see with the naked eye.
Should be getting higher in the sky till about the 23rd of the month when it should be close to the Big Dipper.
You've also got Saturn and Jupiter alongside each other to the south.
And Mars close to the moon when it rises.
We've turned into geeks during this lockdown.

Have to disagree. Getting heads out of screens and looking around is definitely ungeeky. Definitely.
And the big blue one over your head, Vega, will be the North star in eleven thousand nine hundred and sixty eight years* from now. As Patrick Moore said, that will be well worth waiting for.
* He said twelve thousand but that was thirty two years ago.

Brief tussle with Common's Picanto but I won.
She said she was getting a squeak on the brakes so pulled the wheels to check and clean.
Pads are fine, 5-6mm meat left on all but one rear disc not clean all the way across.
Dropped the caliper and sure enough, pad was solid in the guides, had to hammer it out enough to get a large screwdriver in to lever...bu55er didn't give up easy.
5 minutes with a file to clean up the ears and slipped back in nicely.

Meanwhile, common has got a rattle can on black spray and a sanding block, cleaned up the scuffs on her hub caps and re-sprayed, then got carried away and sprayed the steel rims.... she's happy.
