If your tyres are wearing unevenly or your steering pulls to the left or right it needs doing.
If in doubt go to your local tyre specialist and they’ll check it for a reasonable fee.

F1 Autocentres will check your alignment for free, only charging you should it need doing.... they also do a printout of before and after.
I think the last time I went there it was £30, but don't quote me! :D

Hmmm
Last time I asked at my local F1, they wanted 20 quid to check and were talking 45 if adjustment needed.
Tyre place just up the road (none franchise) offered free and £25 to set if needed

If you are concerned, shop around and ask price, 20 quid is twenty quid.

Going back 10 years, but mine was an RN and only came on when engine reached hot.
Can't see them changing that from one spec to another.....

Most if not all modern cars have an electric fan that only comes on when needed.
It's more of a worry when the fan is on when engine just started.
Bearing in mind that many come on (possibly at slower speed) when AC is turned on.

..... and most modern cars are set up so the fan rarely needs to come on and may never unless stuck in July traffic jams or left idling for a long time. Upshot it you may not know it has failed until it's needed by which time it's too late.
At annual service, with the car stone cold, check that the fan can rotate. They seize up. After a run let it idle until the temp gauge nudges above normal and see it comes on. You could also disconnect the temp sensor with the motor running. When the ecu sees the temp signal missing it should panic and put the fan on.
