i have just purchased a laguna II 1.6 16v 2001.
i have a problem with idling when cold and i would like to clean the idle valve first, could someone please tell me exactly where it is located?

That engine does not have an "idle control" valve fitted. It uses a motorised throttle body instead to adjust idle..

The body is a common failure on this engine and is not repairable.. A new body is available at around £250 fitted including ECU programming..

Or you could remove the body and clean the Plenum/butterfly which may solve your idle problem, as the butterfly does not completly close so allowing air to passby.. Oil residue builds up and starves the engine of air at idle.
