What diagnostic tool do i need to interface with a Scenic 1 Feb 1998 1.9dt?

Laptop is available so happy to go that route.

99% are for cars from 2001 on there was one if i can find it that covered cars from 96 on including renault
i ordered this for programming keys but it also does fault codes and meant to work on a scenic from 98 on it still has not turned up yet so cannot confirm if it works on my 98 scenic

Can you please update this thread when you have tried it? I want to read engine management information, can this also be used to reset engine management errors etc?

once i get it and test it on 98 on cars i will update this thread it can take upto 3 weeks to arrive

Would prefer pc based diagnostics if possible

depends how much you want to pay and what your looking for out of it a elm scanner will work but is limited to what it will read and clear if your looking for full on diagnostics the clip is the 1 to go for

ELM327 from ebay. its laptop, you can use hundreds of programs with it and its super cheap

Bear in mind its only for EOBD system and will NOT cover the airbag, ABS, AT etc

are ELM327 for 1991 0n for uk and europe cars

Will ELM327 read Immobiliser codes etc?

If so it sounds like just what i need.

Pre 2001 Renaults with petrol engines aren't OBD compliant (2004 for diesels) as already suggested a Renault Can Clip should do what you need though they aren't particularly cheap and are all generally Chinese clones
