Hi Lee. Yes, because you have broken the circut this has caused the airbag light to come on.
It will more than likely be ok and should just need resetting and the fault clearing.

i just also changed my cloth seats for leather and my light came on also but after looking into it further i was able to find that one of the conections to the seat belt pre ten was not on right

and it went out yay

 

just found out one off the pretensioners gone off suppose you expect that from a breakers dont u

 

you should be able to take one from your old seats but mind to thread lock the bolt back in
