Yes the Laguna range from 2001 are OBD II

THe obd connector normally looks like this:

Image

and has pin combinations representing one of the four OBD II protocols:

J1850 VPW – The connector will have metallic contacts in pins 2, 4, 5, and 16, but not 10.
ISO 9141-2 – The connector will have metallic contacts in pins 4, 5, 7, 15, and 16.
J1850 PWM – The connector will have metallic contacts in pins 2, 4, 5, 10, and 16.
KWP2000 (ISO142300) – The connector will have metallic contacts in pins 4, 5, 7, 15, and 16.

The pins are used in the following way:

Pin 2 - J1850 Bus+
Pin 4 - Chassis Ground
Pin 5 - Signal Ground
Pin 6 - CAN High (J-2284)
Pin 7 - ISO 9141-2 K Line and ISO/DIS 14230-4
Pin 10 - J1850 Bus
Pin 14 - CAN Low (J-2284)
Pin 15 - ISO 9141-2 L Line and ISO/DIS 14230-4
Pin 16 - Battery Power

Please correct me if I am wrong renault techs..

Have you found a reader and software for this then ??

I think the renaults are ISO type..

I am considering something along the lines of Digimoto PPC 1.0 Package which has the cables and software to enable me to use my Ipaq ( which I use for Tom Tom sta nav ) to read the diagnostics from the car..

Would love to hear from anyone who has acheived this and has some pointers on the best way to go..

For example resetting the tyre sensors after a tyre change ( would save ppl a lot of time and money )

What you fink ?

Good news is that we have arranged one of the devices on loan.

Once it arrives here I will shortly be putting together a full review together with pictures and possibly videos of the real time diagnostics for you all too see..

Unfortunately the kit WILL NOT reset tyre sensors though

OK we contacted UK OBD who very kindly loaned us both the full digimoto software and the neccesary link cable.

Initial tests on various Renault models with the Elm Test link cable failed.

However the Mobydic ( no sniggers at the back please ) link cable works fine.

Yesterday I finally managed to have laptop sat beside me whilst zooming around MK checking such wonders as my coolant temperature, inlet manifold pressure, fuel bank readings etc etc etc

For more info on what the software can acheive go to

http://www.digimoto.com/demo.htm

Note the above link show version 3.7 - We have the greatly improved version 4.3.

Now here's the deal..

We will be writing a full review in due course but I wish to test the system with as many variants of the renault line up as I can.

I therefore offer a free ecu fault code read and clear ( if needed ) to anyone who wishes to visit me in person ( I don't bite ).

As you may know I'm in Milton Keynes so ideally you will have to be local.

If your interested in this generous offer please pm me or post here ( do not leave any phone numbers - this is the internet )

NOTE :- This system doesn't reset tyre sensors before you ask..

OK I have a few requests via pm and testing will be carried out this weekend + during the course of next week. After that the offer is closed as the kit will be returned to supplier.

Note that earlier Laguna I phase 1 + 2 are unfortunately not compliant with this system.

Looking for later model Laguna II phase 1 + 2 Diesel Deriatives, Scenic's, Meganes, Espace etc..

Are there news about this? I have an ISO cable but the Digimoto freeware detects only RPM, temp, speed, etc. Do you know about any other software (even with charge) that connects tot he rest of the system? My Laguna had some bad coils and the sofftware did not send any error code.

Saludos!
