I have Megane cabriolet 2005. Firstly fuel injector was stuck fully on/open, warning light came on "Fuel Injection Service" that fixed itself by turning car off then on again. About a week later, car is really sluggish when gears are changed, revs are really high, shooting up to 5 then settling back to 3ish after a minute or so. There seems to be a lot of fumes in the car too. Does anyone have any idea where I should start to look - have spanner, no money and no technical ability but willing to try so any guidance most appreciated.

Hi JimmyL and Welcome to the Forum :)
I would pull the plugs and see what colour they are.
What fumes? Fuel or exhaust?
To help narrow this down you could get yourself a free code reader app like Torque Pro and and an interface for about a tenner.
How long was the cleaner in? They can makes things a bit worse before it gets better as it breaks up the deposits in the fuel system.

What was the cleaner you used, I recommend this one,
Used this on both my Scenics a 2002 1.6 16 V petrol and a 2002 2.0L Petrol RX4
Gave a 10% increase in mileage and the MIL light that was on in the Scenic 1.6 was reset for the MOT and it never came back on. Usually came back on after a week and that was even with a fooler fitted.

I am presuming it is a petrol model as you don't actually say.
