Hi everyone, I have Megane IV (2017) and my hazard lights button stopped working (the red triangle button). Nothing happens when I press it. Turn signals work fine and switch on the respective blinkers.

The button is part of multimedia/navi that looks like this:

I have visited my local mechanic and he says that the button/switch cannot be replaced or repaired and all that he can do is order a used multimedia system and fully replace it example: 2017 Renault Megane MK4 SAT NAV SCREEN 280901068R | eBay

I also have an appointment at an authorized Renault service centre (im from Croatia btw) in a few days so I will see what they have to say. I'm hoping that the button/switch can be replaced without changing the whole infotainment system.

What can I expect here? Can the button/switch be replaced? What is the price of a new infotainment system? Is it possible to upgrade it to bigger one when replacing?

Because the button is not used often it will accumulate dirt on the contacts. See if you can spray some contact cleaner around it and push it on and off a lot. Not a guarantee fix but it has worked for me on a couple of previous car's.
Thanks! I did exactly as you said and the button works now. It doesn't seem to "click" as nicely as it did before, but it works perfectly every time when pressed. It must be the dirt accumulating, but I use the button daily, so "not using often" shouldn't be the issue. You saved me, thanks again!

Just a few updates if anyone encounters the same problem. I had to clean it a few times because it stopped working again, but now it seems to work fine and I hope it stays that way. I visited authorized Renault service centre and they also said that the only thing they can do is install the new infotainment system, individual button/switch cannot be replaced. New infotainment costs around 650 euros.

Can you share a short guide how you cleaned the button?

I just used MOTIP Contact cleaner and sprayed a few short sprays into cracks around the button and left it to dry for 10 minutes. I guess it is enough to penetrate and dissolve any dirt that accumulated.

After some time, the button stopped working again and this contact cleaner trick didn't help anymore. My local mechanic found a used original infotainment screen for 200 eur and completely replaced it. It worked perfectly for 2 years and now the same button started to malfunction again.

I'm able to solve the problem with contact cleaner for now but I guess it will stop working again at some point and then I will have to replace the whole infotainment screen for the second time. This is really weird as this doesn't seem like a frequent problem and I'm being really gentle with the button and the way I clean my car (using only dry towel to wipe that part) after I had to change the whole screen for this little button.

Also, this is some pretty garbage engineering on Renault's part. Thing like hazard lights button is something that is important for safety and it should be somewhere that is more accessible and more robust, not a part of cheap chinese tablet that you charge 650 eur to replace after it breaks.
