Hi the misses car has came up with this message, brake system fault. Been and had them checked and can’t get car in until 2 weeks time, I’ve checked brake fluid which is ok, pads are about 8mm left on them, it’s an auto edc 16 plate with automatic handbrake switch, has anyone got any ideas in what this could be? I’ve been told that these don’t have abs sensor (brake sensors) on them so bit confused now, and means can’t get into garage I need to try find fault to fix

A modern car with no ABS sensors?
Who fed you that.

Chances are it is a cable issue with the older style Electronic Parking Brake box.
If I am not mistaken, Kadjar uses rear drums for parking brake (disc for rear foot brakes) and the drum system is cable operated.
I suspect one of your wheels is not being locked by the EPB and the unit has chucked up an error.

I think you will find it's not only discs but will stand correcting. Your Kadjar may be different and I may have jumped in too fast.

System on the qashqai which I have.
Rear discs and pads for the normal foot brake
But that disc has a deep centre boss which acts as a brake drum and houses brake shoes for the handbrake.

Later Q cars seem to have discs pads only and piggy back motors on the calipers for EPB system
Which your Kadjar may have?

Have a squint under the back end...if handbrake cables then there is a central unit and drums
IF plastic housings on the calipers with electrical connection, then piggy back

If the latter then sticking caliper or pads may be the cause, removal and cleaning would possibly fix.

I’ve removed callipers, cleaned them up put new rubbers on pistons and still showing message, it’s got electrical motor on back which I’ve tested and works ok as I’m aware, I operated the EPB while caliper was off and seen that the piston came out and in as it should on both back wheels, put new pads on aswell, any ideas as to what to do next

Would love to know wha the outcome was ? My car was driving fine. On the school run had to mount the kerb to get parked. Sensibly drove nice and slowly on the path. Started the car to leave and I get that light and warning on the display.

Car and electronic parking working exactly as expected. Could I have knocked something with my steady move onto the path?
