Replace resistor Clio Mk3

Hi all, the blower on my wife's clio mk3 only works intermittently on blower 4. I have been told that this is the resistor but looking at replacing this looks like the dashboard will need to be taken out to replace it fully. I do have the replacement resistor but my question is. Can i cut the wires (black and red)

and re-connect them with the Wago connectors?

any input on this is greatly appreciated.
