RX4 tyre size

I eventually get the money together for Michellin Synchrones when they have been delisted and are currently being replaced by something else:steam:

now the current tyres i have are 215 60 16 and in the owners handbook they offer alternative 215 65 16. Now I explained this to the tyre fitters and they were reluctant to use this size unless i get the OK from Renault. (drive train and rolling resistance effects etc etc)

Can anyone who works for renault confirm I can use this (more common) profile.

I have written to renault UK but won't hold my breath.

www.blackcircles.com have plenty of 215/60/16 listed, from £45 to £130.

Thanks for the replies, I really want Michellins as they are the most compatable with the car and i've read other posts saying the same thing. I tried ringing Renault and waiting, and waiting and waiting......
I just got an email reply today from renault, but all they want is my name and address (again!) and the reg and chassis number of the car.

BTW I think the new michellin tyres are called "latitude"

thanks, i can't see if they do them in 65 profile or not, so I have emailed Michellin, and also asked if Syncrones are still in production

update:
michellin still do syncrones in 60 profile but are not in production!!!
Still, I went with the latitude Tour HP from costco for 4 tyres £338.35 including a £40 4 tyre discout till end june (i think) used the 65 profile after checking with local Renault dealer.
