Same issues as the rest last 6 months been in 3 garages up stream pressure sensor and pipe replaced and injectors replaced dpf had cleaned basically everything you can think of been done. It's now back in he thinks it needs software update. Or reflash with original software. He's also asked if I'm interested in the delete too. Mines 2018 1.6 twin turbo formula edition

No one any further with this? Seems like this particular age of van is very problematic with regards to oil consumption and DPF issues. My assumption is that the the older 2015/2016 models are more reliable.

I haven't found the cause of the issue. I'm on a similar train of thought to David Martindale...I feel like this is kind of a big hidden issue. Whether it is the engine burning oil which is wrecking DPFs or whether the DPFs have an issue, who knows, but something definitely isn't right and could easily be manufactured wrong.

The reason that it's kind of hidden issue in my eyes, is because these engines use quite a bit of oil it seems and that must cause the DPF to clog bad, which in turn triggers a regen too often, causing issues with rings/turbos/bores but as a bit of fuel goes into the oil, the oil use doesn't look as bad as it probably is and then the cycle gets worse and worse as the wear is accelerated but the oil gets changed, the service light reset and the cycle continues because many seem to think this is a fix as the P253F code goes off after this as resetting the service count just sets the oil dilution ratio counter to 0% and once it gets back to ~10%, then the fault comes back. Each regen is about 0.05%, so after approx 200 regens, the code comes back.

I hope someone gets to the bottom of this and one day posts on here.

Did you get this information from a Renault dealer? I’ve got a Trafic with all the symptoms above, high oil usage etc just spoke to my local Renault dealer and they are denying there’s any software update
Hey all, same for me - they are denying any software update is needed. Same issues. high oil consumption and every 150 miles check injection light is on and the van is in limp mode.

IMO ............... no software update is going to fix high oil consumption.

So find and fix THAT problem and you may then be rewarded with a clean and content dash after an oil change and manual DPF regen

The problem for me is that no garage (tried 3) is willing to find out what the issue is. They go straight to either sending me away or suggesting to replace the engine (quoted at 10-15K to replace enginge + dpf system), just based on the diagnostics on the reader...

They also all said the dpf issues COULD stem from the engine burning oil, but they don't know. And I don't really feel comfortable spending that amount of money when I don't even know if there is an issue and what the issue is, but apparently checking is too costly..

I'm completely lost with this and feel super helpless.

UGH!

For sure .................... NOT COULD

I cannot help with oil consumption (and I doubt anybody else here can either)

It requires a mechanic not bulshi1tting you

yh, I just want to find someone who is happy to actually look at the oil issue... also so worried if I put in a new engine it will end up with the same problem?!

New engine? .................... cannot possibly end up with a oil consumption problem.

2nd hand engine from somewhere unknown or even reputable - VERY high possibility to end up with same problem given the quality of the twits around your area.

Courier it to me I will gladly have a look for free.

That is very kind :)

Sorry, what I meant was this is happening after 55K miles only.. so I'm worried I put a new engine in and after 55K miles I have the same issue... I don't think that's a lot of mileage for a van :/

If you look after a new engine installation with timeous oil changes I fail to see how 55K could get you to the same situation.

Someone has checked Turbo on this,
Not all Turbo issues result in Turbo failing
