not sure about DX but LOC is normaly local station. You can often set the tuner to only look for stations with strong signals (LOCAL) so they hunt less

DX = Distant
LOC = Local

Don't ask me why DX = Distant - I think it's just techie radio terminology that was probably never meant to make it down to the consumer.

In LOC mode, searching forwards or backwards through the frequency range will skip past the weaker signals and only stop when it reaches a strong one. You should be guaranteed of decent quality audio.

Switch to DX mode, and it'll stop on the weaker channels too. You might get some interference on these.
