Hi guys, I have a 2013 Renault Megane Estate mk3. The other day I was driving to work and on came a warning light brake system fault. I tapped the brakes and everything seemed fine so I drove a bit further and the warning light went off. I had a look at the pads when I got home and still have lots on them. Checked the brake fluid and looks fine. Since then the warning light flashes on and off constantly. Is this a known problem? Any ideas on how to sort it without costing a fortune?
Thanks, guys

I had the same problem. How did you fix this in the end.

Hi Guys,
My car is fine, no brake fluid leak. The level went down in reservior due to consumed brake pads. It was just in line with low oil level hence the fault was intermittant.
I have another question:
What grade and how much of engine oil does a 2010 Renault Grand Scenic 1.4 petrol with 92,000 miles takes?
Thanks

Hi Skipper and Welcome :)
What exactly are your symptoms?
Top up the fluid first. Monitor the level closely and keep looking for leaks if there is a noticeable drop in a shortish time like 5mm in a week.
Concepttiling replacing the sensors did not fix his problem. Simple problems are common and it's better to keep things simple at least at first. Going hi tech too soon is not the best way to fix things.

Hi, Congratulations of fixing the problem. Can you please elaborate on which ABS sensors, rear or front, did you replace or did you get them replaced by renault. What did you do about the leak from the Master cylinder? and finally how much did it cost?
I have same issue but haven't topped up the brake fluid yet. I will top it up and look for any leaks and see if it goes exactly like yours or not. I have also seen my ABS sensors which are very rusty and suspect they are gone.
Does anyone know of a good gadget to run on your computer to diagnose sensors, etc?
Thanks

Hi guys, just an update on my brake problem. I have had to top up 3 times since last time. Had a mechanic do a service and told him the problem but couldn't really see anything. Had to top up again today and had a look down at the pedals as my clutch feels slippery when I press it. Noticed just behind the clutch a part that was dripping oil exactly the same as the brake fluid as when I topped up I pumped the brakes. I'll attach some pics. It's the black sort of round/tube part in the background. Any ideas would be appreciated. Thanks, Graham

The easy suspects here are the fluid level and the handbrake switch. If there is a strainer in the neck of the reservoir you can be fooled as to the actual level and hand brake switches seldom go on the blink but worth checking.

Pad wear indicator wiring is another issue but generally they only show up after work on the brakes and someone has been a bit careless.

After that have a search around down in forums/problem solving/ask the experts

A code read would help. You could download the free Torque app and buy a wifi or bluetooth ELM327 interface for about a tenner. That app is good enough but somewhat limited and the code may be generic.
The fact that it comes and goes would make you think a switch or wiring.
