Hi - I have just bought a Clio E-Tech RS-Line Hybrid. Every article or review I have read or watched says the car sets off in silence using the electrical engine. Mine starts with the ICE and seems to charge an already pretty full battery before moving using either the electric, ICE or both engines. It certainly isn't totally silent.

Admittently it is cold at the moment but do any of you guys with a similar model find you move off in silence ?

We had a member with a new hybrid recently who had trouble starting his car.
Would press the button but no engine sound
Turned out he was expecting the ICE to start every time and not realising that when system was happy with the battery, EV took over. It actually had started and was waiting for him.

As with Andrew, I have not got one but the tale above and many from other forums where EV/hybrids are more common is that the systems are not always doing what you think they should but working to load/power/charge algorithms that make sense to them.

Not saying that yours isn't faulty, just keep an open mind, if you are not happy, run it back to the dealers and discuss

I just bought a Clio Hybrid as well. I was initially driving in My Sense mode and getting low mpg like mid 30s. I changed to Eco mode with auto climate control set at 18 C and getting an avg of 60 mpg per the onboard car info.

In the morning since it’s cold nowadays, the ICE does charge the battery for a couple of minutes and switches to EV. I move the car after it has switched to EV.

That sounds like you have a good routine because 60mpg sounds very good at this time of year. Some owners have mentioned reduced mpg in the cold winter weather.

Enjoy your new car - I tried to buy an e-tech around the end of Covid and couldn't get one, so picked up a nearly new petrol, which is still a great car. Maybe EV or hybrid next time!! ;)

I’ve just bought a Clio Hybrid 2023, 1500 miles on the clock. I broke down on the motorway with the battery light on and a warning saying electrical fault, stop. Hazard lights didn’t work, wouldn’t drive over 20mph then just went dead and the sos went off without me touching it. Renault are saying there’s nothing wrong with the car. Just wondering if anyone else has had this happen.

After Covid Lockdown there was a shortage of microchips, and one of the things Renault did to keep building cars was to omit auto-folding mirrors, maybe your car is one produced during that time?

I believe they initially said they'd retrofit them, but then never did. I couldn't even get a new car at the time....
