Hi bods,

The F4R 700 fitted to the Espace iii is fitted with a manual gearbox.
The F4R 701 " " " " " " " " an automatic gearbox.

Mine is the F4R 701 auto. Can I fit the same auto box and torque converter to the F4R 700 Engine block??

Appreciated as always.

Thanks Wyn,
No one I've spoken to are prepared to commit but two have suggested that the 701 crank (if good) could be used to replace the one in the 700. Would you agree with that??

Don't know if it would be the same but years back, swapped a Cortina manual engine for one that came out of an auto.
Spigot bearing was different though hole in crank end was the same.... simple bearing swap.

Thanks Dancingdad, I'm pretty sure that I could get a spigot bearing if they are interchangeable and the crankshafts are otherwise the same.
My searching around Diologys and elsewhere has failed to clarify whether the 700 and 701 crankshaft are the same manufactured part with the relevant spigot being selected and fitted after the gearbox type is designated or if they are two totally different specs.

I have one of each engine. The trouble with that is the 701 is still on the road. I'm hoping to be able to recon the 700 so that it can accept the DPO gearbox.
As you know from past experience the simplest things seem to have become the most difficult.
That's progress I suppose?? Haha
