i have not done either, just strange how this problem can accur when the car has not been used. although i have had it on diagnostics and got, po651, po670, po115, po100, po110, po380. would any of these explain the white smoke and tapping? one is maf, intake temp, glow plugs.... i cant remember the others. looks like a garage jobby??.

when rac came out to me, they put it on there computor, and it came up with common rail compession fault now that has gone since i have changed seals. i just cant get my head round it. my next step was to clean egr valve?

Whoah!! - you may be heading in the wring direction.

The common rail cannot give a compression reading. It may show a fuel pressure problem which has nothing whatsover to do with the engines compression so by changing the injector seal you were heading totally in the wrong direction. To test the engine compression the glow-plugs have to be removed and a special gauge inserted.

The injector seals may have been faulty but neither the seals or EGR valve will affect the fuel rail pressure - your fault would appear to lie elsewhere.

Have you checked the fuel filter for signs of crud especially the dreaded metal particles , You need to check its contents using a magnet.

Were the new seals you fitted geuine renault one's How did you clean the injectors i would remove them again and get the spray pattern checked out It's very important to fit the genuine seals even a few thou a difference in thickness can cause knocking black smoke &poor running Hth Regards Mickeybo
