Disarm Megane II Rain Sensor

Hi,

Is it possible to disarm/bypass the rain sensor (behind the RVM) on a Megane 1.4 2005 so that the intermittent windscreen wipe operates from the stalk in positions 1, 2, 3 & 4 (The dots that are printed on the stalk) as a conventional car does?

It seems that this function is not working even if I switch to "Auto Lights"

As I've read here on this site, many people find that if they turn the stalk to each of the 4 positions, they get one sweep of the wipers and that's it!

Yet another electrical problem to solve
Will the French ever get it right:crazy:

Ok. Here are the results to my test. I've not checked the UCH yet but will do at the weekend and post my findings on the other thread.

Warnings on dash - None
Auto Lights Activated - No warnings and if I place a card over the sensor, the lights do come on.

Engine on, flick Int Wipe to pos'n 2 then back to 1 - Spray droplets of water onto the screen over sensor - Nothing happens.

Engine on, select reverse rear wiper does not activate.

I have a couple of pics here of the sensor/gel pad. they look a bit iffy to me. Any thoughts?

Remember, I still have to inspect the UCH at the weekend so we'll see if that has anything to do with it.

New Gel Pad fitted and after spraying a little water onto the screen, the intermittent wipe activated. Now, all I need is it to rain and I'll check it again on the road to see if everything works as it should. No doubt, it'll rain very soon!

Phew, one electrical problem solved i hope.

Thanks guys for the advice.

What next???????
