Electric Fault/Limp Mode

After washing my car yesterday, I went to start it afterwards and the Electric fault warning light came on. It was ticking over at 2000rmp and then decreasing and increasing on its own. I consulted a garaged and they said a throttle position sensor will be needed. However I went back out and started it this morning and it was fine, no light and ticking over fine. Could this of been a one off at all?

I'd appreciate it if someone could help?

Thanks

Sounds like damp may have got into the engine electrics during washing and has now dried out. If possible get the engine hot then leave it to idle with the bonnet up - hopefully any trapped condensation will disappear.

As a matter of interest did you use a power washer?

Ive let it warm up and left it ticking over and it was fine, then let it cool down till it was cold and done the same again and it was still fine.

I hand washed it myself. Was fine before I washed it too

Is it possible the problem could of been a one off? Could the electrics have dried out and be fine? It seems to be running fine on start up how it always has but don't know whether to take it to the garage still?

Thanks to anybody who can help
