Sorry to jump in so late but the best thing to do with front fog lights, along with those 4king rear blinders, is to bin them. Rears may have a place in deep fog on a motorway but yer average commuter switches them on in mist, in traffic - big help. Fronts are generally left on all the time either because numnuts forgets they're on or for "look at me" effect. As for illumination, they're as much use as a chocolate fireguard. Now, a pair of Super Oscars, they'll do the job!

"You dont drive much around country lanes then ,,"

I do - I live in a small village. I write from personal experience of driving in towns and at commuting time. I think the lack of consideration in the use of these lights is just another symptom of the me me me society which has developed over the past few years.

I've had front fogs on four Citroens, two Alfas and my current RX4; none of them were worth a toss.

You cant tar everyone with the same brush here ...fogs do have a purpose as long as used correctly which plenty of us do .....biggest problem is in poor conditions people not using lights at all and also police can issue tickets for incorrect use of fog lights

I agree it is an age old problem with motorists not using their lighting to the road conditions.
Can we keep the thread subject to getting this poor chaps 'Fog Lights' working whether he actually needs them or not. :d

Cheers

Good morning, well I got out this morning and looked for the bank of relays under the dash on the pass side and there was only one row of relays on my van, On that row there was only one space left at the bottom so seeing my van has a lot of spec already fitted I put the relay into that space and hey presto they are working, I switched on the headlamps and then the front fogs and the dashlight came on so I checked the fogs outside and they are on, So all in all they were quite simple to fit as the wires were there to attach to the fogs, the stalk switch was a doddle to fit and now the relay is a doddle now I know where it is, Many thanks to you and forums like this to help people like me find and fix things it's great and better than having to pay a garage to sort this out, Best regards to all that have replied to my quest for help, Nev pics attached

Forgot to say the the empty space for the relay was the very bottom one as you look at the picture and that is where I put a green relay that I got with the kit , tnx

I am sorry to see that you have a huge chip on your shoulder regarding fog lights,
I agree that irresponsible drivers that leave them on or use them willy nilly causes a problems for other road users BUT I am not one of those type of drivers so you cannot say that all of drivers are the same, I am an ex Professional HGV driver retired and believe me I have seen them all but I aim to use them correctly and within the law,

Well done...love the old style RAC n AA badges :d

Thank you for your comment as I thought this was going to end up as a debate as to with-ever I should fit them as to other people views etc ??
If people have their own views on things then this is not the place to vent them is it, Best regards nev

Yes thanks, the fog light wires on the passenger side were clipped directly the fog light cover plate in full view and the drivers side wires were tucked up over on top of the inner wing so I had to take the headlamp out to find it but it was there,
A clue for me was that there was a fog light panel that clips in and 2 hex screws to hold it and on that panel there was a removable round panel where the fogs go, this is where I had my daytime running lights as in the pics, so with fitting the fogs I have had to buy another set of drl's but it's worth it,
I bought this complete kit off ebay for a ridiculous price of £25 I could not believe my luck, The item number was 141823616873 if you want to view them yourself, I was quoted £180 + pp off the web so I knew I was on a good thing,
So good luck with yours and keep an eye out and poss get a set yourself , regards Nev
