hi all,
my megane 2 speedo meter starting to play up, the car was off road for few month and after turning it on after a while, the right hand side of the speedo has two faults

the rev counter is not calibrated, it stays on 0 when the car idels and should be on 1k

the fuel gague is all the way to the right as almost telling you that u have 2 times the capacity fuel in the tank

any ideas on how this can be fixed

thanks

If your car as a trip reset button on the dash try holding that down then with it down turn on the ignition.

thanks,
i did this and when it test it it is still out, the idle is 0 and the 0 is below it crossing into the fuel gauge,

the max rpm is 5.500 and not 6500 as it is out of calibration

it goes away and correct itself after my battery is recharged( my car was off the road for couple of month)

however as soon as the car is not started for 2 days which means a littlle struggle from the battery to power it on ( crank it) then the gauge starts to play up

this again goes away after few days automatically so don't know what is really happening . any ideas?

Sounds that it may be voltage related, have battery and alternator checked, if you have a volt meter you should see about 12.5 v on the battery everything off and 14v engine running. if your not getting 14v engine running suspect the alternator if less than 12v everything off then suspect battery car shops will often load test them for free in the hope of a sale if they prove duff.

sorry for taking long to reply

well the battery used to die after 1/2 days which the car hasn't been used or even when it was driving around it could suddnly play up and do not start

i did change the battery with a stronger battery which again was 2nd hand but has fixed the isse so now the car starts with first ignition turn but still have the rev counter misalinment

have done the speedometer test and the needles move around for a while but again nothing changed
at the moment the right hand side of the speedo is impacted and the fuel gauge and rev counter is out of alignment
rev by around 1.5 k and fuel gauge by 1/2 of the fuel gauge

it did fix on its own last time but it is not happening now and it has been like this for a while , any suggestions ?

thanks
