Like the man just said wheel and tyre off like you would for changing a normal valve. You can replace the sensors with normal valves.
They last around 10 years or so, It's the button batteries that usually go flat l in the sensors and you can't replace the batteries as they are bonded in with resin I've been told.
I'm not sure I'd bother with 2nd sensors?
I have a Renault Clip and have recently disabled the the tyre pressure function as I have a faulty sensor. Each wheel has to be re-assigned using a Can Clip if you do fit a different sensor or swap wheels around for the dashboard display in the car to work corrrectly.
Regards. Sorry for my English. I think I've read, the batteries of the pressure sensors can not be cambiar.Mi car you are 12 years old and I changed the batteries to 4 sensors. Until now, they are working perfectly.
Thank you
Tyres have to come off the wheel ,inside the wheel where the valve fits through to blow the tyre up that is the valve,,if it looks like a normal valve it is one,the tps can not be missed if it is fitted
Do an online search for Schrader tyre pressure monitoring valve - should throw up some pics, etc.
Personally I wouldn't buy or recommend a second hand sensor purely on the grounds that it would cost around £15-00 to have it fitted and then as much as £40 to have it programmed. Why spend the thick end of £50 with the risk of it failing.
You can remove the TPS (Tyre pressure sensor) without taking the tyre completely off the rim, you just need to break the tyre bead away from the rim then you can press the tyre down in the area where the TPS is and remove it, this is best done by standing or kneeling on the tyre.
Make sure to loosen the nut on the outside of the valve first as this is what holds the TPS in place.
Ok just an update on these I got 2, of them out with a knife, piece of wood and a hammer. There was a kind of resin/silicone holding them in got most of it out with the knife and then knocked them out. The 3rs one was much different as is seemed to be glued above and below to seal it on. Long and short of it I drilled it out. All the nuts were glued
The sensors on both my laguna and daughters Megane have been replaced with standard valves and taken off the ecu so doesn't show on display panel.
Result is no more false readings, and I am more than capable of checking my own pressures - just like we used to ! Happy days
Hello. I commented as I changed the batteries in the sensors of the tires . By yellow lines , I made a cut of 5 mm deep, until you find the bateria.Al lift the lid on the green line , it is assumed without any problems. Caution should be exercised with the air inlet hole and measures the pressure ( both red ) .
It only remains to install the battery. In the bottom terminal , I put aluminum foil to help the contact terminal - battery. A small piece is enough . In the upper terminal , you have to scratch the battery so that the solder paste tin tightly.
The sensors work with CR2450 batteries .
4 batteries and glue were 15 euros. In the Renault were € 320 . (50 € sensor 30 € programming) .
As for the glue , I used a two- component epoxy glue .
I wish that you help to do the job .
Thank you
