Renault Clio I - Engines - Engine code help

Recently I bought a 1997 Clio RL versailles 1.2, the engine capacity is 1149CC, but I didn't find the engine code there(e.g. D7F)

anybody has some ideas about finding the engine code?

welcome to the forum, the 1149cc engine was the D7F engine, the engine info is also encoded in the VIN as per this link http://www.renaultforums.co.uk/general-forum/22019-every-ones-attention-technical.html

BTW, there is an empty cable in the second picture, anybody know what it was used for?
