Hi, I too have the problem but I have narrowed mine down to either a positive feed problem to the ECU or the ecu itself. Do you know where the positive for the throttle body motor comes from ? I know where it leaves the ECU at the centre plug but where does the positive go in to the ECU?
Thanks in advance

Hi,
I have quite the same probems...I am owner of VS 2.0t with LPG installation, 2002 year with F4R, same as laguna II.
Two months ago, while driving, the car prompted Fuel Injection fault(body throttle regulation is switch off and motor is at cca 3500 RPM).
At the R service, the body throttle was replaced (new), as they said that the potentiometers of both measuring tracks were dead. After replacement the problem occurred again and again… INJ fault, ESP & ABS fault, handbrake… this is all connected with ECU fault behavior, as I was told.
They checked all the wiring of ECU, body throttle, gas pedal, …. all the connections to the injection ECU, replaced all ECU relays, connection between ECU and body throttle…
Finally they concluded that ECU is faulty and I bought used one. But the problem stayed…so ECU seems it is OK…unless both ECU had the same fault
ECU was also upgraded with last FW (some posts suggests upgrade for laguna).
They have no clue how to help me,…. I forgot to mention, that car was moved also to second R dealer/service…but also no luck…
Now they are waiting me to allow ordering new ECU which is 1350€… but I am worried that it is not ECU faulty, as the problem is the same from beginning

It is interesting, that after throttle replacement problem/fault occurs when the car is started (during initialization), and not during the drive (during the drive happened just at the beginning, two months ago), or maybe this only by chance.
What else to do...

Have you resolved your problem yet? I cannot get any answers of where the ECU gets its feed to the throttle body motor from? I know the output from connector B pin M4 is the positive but I need the Input to the ECU not the output pin. If someone knows please reply its doing my feeble head in.

regards
turbineguy

The 3 input voltage's to ecu are ag2-bd4-ad1 the 3 ecu earths are chi-ag4-ah4 Which i do not believe will help with your problem. The bm4 is a 12v out put voltage to the throttle position motor which is ecu controlled If you can't find the 12v's at ecu output terminal then you have a ecu internal fault

Hi,

As mentioned before I still have problems with my F4R 2.0t vel satis, complete fuel injection faults...
all important modules were replaced: ECU, body throttle, acc. pedal, ecu-throttle wiring, wiring with pedal,... but still no luck
also new FW on ECU

The problem remains; fuel injection fault, ...and all related faults: body throttle, acc pedal, ESP, handbrake,..it happens very often (in two days after leaving the R garage)

Well, yesterday it happened again. I have opened the location of ECU; and found that ECU connectors have like silicon gel inside the pin hole, that connects to ECU pins.
I haven't done anything else, but just as I could clean away these silicon.
After that I started car with no problem... Could this silicon gel be the problem of insuficient electrical connection of modules to ECU.

Did anyone heard about like silicon gel issues?

In one post for Clio, there was also mentioned that wires of ECU were worn by the metal housing, causing the short circuit to ground.

The gel is put in at manufacture to protect against corrosion. It doesn't cause poor contact itself.
Well, final I can say that this silicon gel was the main cause of all problems. As soon as I have cleaned the connector with silicon solvent, dry it with air compresor and grease it contact spray, all problems gone away....

Also my electrican said as you.... this can not be a problem... but it was!!!!

Hi All, i`m now having this problem, car went to the garage today to have my throttle body cleaned. found it has recently had a new one fitted. so its a old problem ive got.

the garage did some adjustments to the throttle and reset the errors...

if it returns again the garage can fit me a 2nd hand ecu with new working cards etc for £180 but reading these posts i shall ask them to check the ecu connections !!

i had my ecu replaced 2 weeks ago and all was well, untill today, fuel inj warning came just as i left work ... had to get recovered home !!

car going back to the garage tomorrow, the recovery guy seems to think i have a faulty fuel pump as its very noisy ... no idea how much that will cost me !!!!

disconnect the battery, remove gas pedal from the floor, 3 nuts 10 mm hex, open it, clean 4 resistor paths with alcohol, sand resistor paths with sandpaper 320 or more gently, clean paths again, also clean 4 resitor hairs, reasemble the gas pedal, put it in laguna, go for a spin.

report back

From earlier in the thread, I picked up on this:

@trevstamf: "Now I'm told by a reliable source that when they are first put together at factory they spray a anti corrosive gel onto the plugs and contacts to prevent corrosion or water ingress, after a few years this gel sets rock hard and then loses it properties and hey presto u get corrosion and duff contacts on the plugs n pins at the ECU under the battery tray "

I was hunting the exactly the same issue on a DCI Lag II.

It does not make sense that the two systems should show exactly the same behaviour when they are so different unless the same issue was causing it, where the two share a common architecture.

I took out my ECU recently and found the same gel stuff that looks like some kind of silicon sealant stuck to several of the pins on the connector of the ECU.

A lot of contact cleaner and a brush later, I had cleaned it all off.

I put it all back together and after a couple of spins, there has been no light.

Now, I had thought I sorted this out before only for the damn light to return, but I had never checked the ECU pins before.

Might be worth a check for anyone else experiencing the issue.

Hi Guys,

New to the forum and indeed Renault ownership!
Bought a 2002 1.8 Estate last week, after being made redundant needed a workhorse to replace the company van and this fitted the bill.

However, after a couple of days the car went into limp mode from startup, and only returned to normal after restarting it a dozen times, rest of the day it was fine.Got the error code cleared and it was "intermittant fault- throttle sensor".The mechanic informed me that its had a new one fitted.Unfortunately, everyday since its happened again after so many times of stop/starting it.

I read this thread and got excited about the possibility of a cheap and easy fix.So today my mechanic friend removed the ecu,got rid of the spots of blue gel and cleaned thoroughly with electrical cleaner as per the instructions, unfortunately i stopped at the shop on the way home and guess what? Back into lim when i restarted it.

This is obviously why the previous owner sold it(after spending a fortune on it i might add),problem is im not in a position right now to do the same,so unless someone could suggest another possible cure its gonna have to go straight back on the market, which is a shame cos apart from this the car is pretty much faultless. TIA
