TomTom Splash Screen

Hi Everyone,

Just hoping someone can answer a quick question for me... I am trying to change the default splash/startup logo on my new Lagunas TomTom screen from the standard "Bose" one to a custom one. I have followed all the guides correctly (Bitmap 24 etc/renaming the file to splashw.bmp etc) however it ALWAYS defaults to the Bose one, even going through the TomTom's own menus to change the image, you can only see the Bose one in the gallery...

Have Renault forced the TomTom to look elsewhere for the logo via the firmware - or am i missing something, has anyone been successful when doing this ?

Many thanks in advance

Dave

Does your TomTom have an SD card like mine. All the pics are on there. Simply replace one of the photos with one of your own. Overwrite the original picture with a file of the same type and resolution. No problems at all.

Mine are all 480x272 bitmaps in the photos folder.

Just had another look. The pics I am replacing are the ones that first come up on my screen (there are several in the photos folder). I don't see a "splashw.bmp" at all even though there is one in the root folder. Maybe I have disabled it somewhere. I do see a legal notice that I would like to change but I can't see the file anywhere on the SD card.

Thanks for the replies - I have done exactly that, (and followed the guides from the TomTom website on how to do it) - i have replaced the bitmap with an image of the same name/dimensions and spec - I have also added a few other images to the gallery that it can load. However up on boot you ALWAYS get the same "Sound by Bose" splash screen :(

When using the TomTom menu to browse the image gallery, the files I have added to the SD card are not visible and the only image you can see is the aforementioned Bose logo :( - I am thinking along the lines that Renault might have hard coded the firmware to look at an alternate location for the images etc to prevent people changing it - however i am almost positive i have seen someone change it - i just cannot for the life of me remember where i have seen the post haha

Sounds like it differs from system to system. Mine does not show the "splash screen" but displays an initial image that it loads from my "Photos" Gallery. This is followed by a legal disclaimer that must be hard coded into ROM since I cannot find that as an image anywhere. I do have a "splash screen" in the file structure but this is never displayed. Running out of options, sorry

Finally sorted this! It would appear that the "photos" folder on the SD card is case sensitive... Mine was "Photos" with a capital "P" - changed the folder name to all lower case and its picked up the pictures in the gallery and allowed me to change the splash screen.

Thanks for your time twodogs - much appreciated!

Good news. You have me looking at mine now, particularly why the splash screen doesn't display at all (not that I am too worried). I would rather remove the legal notice. The photos folder also has a "slideshow" mode just in case you ever want to embarrass your passengers.
