trip computer & stalk not working

helloe peeps,

just bought a laguna 2001 dci privalige from the car auctions, ive noticed the trip computer is only displaying the time and temp, the stalk wont control the sterio volume etc. Any suggestions on how I can find out which is not working?

Any help would be great

p.s. after looking around on the internet these laguna's are not very well thought of are they :-(

Does the car have a heads up display which shows time and temp. When original radios are fitted it also displays stereo information.
It is possible the car has been fitted with an after-market unit which is incompatible with the readout and stalk controls.

It is not unusual for people to throw a duff radio unit into a car when being sold especially at auctions as it is very unlikely to affect its sale price

thanks very much for the reply, it looks like a standard one but im not too sure, need to take it out and see if it is connected, but would this affect the trip computer as all that says is service, no mpg or anyother things appear. I think ive bought a lemmon.lol other problems are cropping up now :-(
