Hi All,
I have a 2003 1.2 Petrol Clio II Expression 16v Automatic
Yesterday my Clio took a strange turn.
Last week my engine was ticking very heavily, and didn't sound healthy at all, strong vibrations.
I was out camping at the weekend and I left the electrics on with the Keys In overnight on the last night, the day I went to leave (Sunday, Yesterday) The battery wasn't dead but didn't have enough juice to ignite, just ticked and the dashboard was flickering when I tried. So I called out my Breakdown Cover and they topped up the battery for me. I started my journey home, went and bought a quater tank of petrol. Somwhat into my journey when at a junction - I was static in first gear, the car was vibrating very very heavily, and suddenly, Kabum!! My Automatic Stooled.
I turned it on, and I found that every time I eased off the acceleration completely, to slow down, when I went back on the Accelarator, there was no power, nothing, I would have to turn the keys off and on and literally jump start the car mid traffic, which managed to get me home driving up the M3!
When I was static I had to turn the car off and back on again and start again from neutral.
I went and the Immediately Filled the car up to the max with petrol, Didn't fix it obviously. Took it to garage and the Mechanic said I need a new throttle Body and Accelerator Assembly?
I would't say this is a loss of power, because once It is accelerating, It at full horse power, it is just when I come off the accelerator and back on, that no there is absolutely no revving?
Also this light comes on intermittently - the one below the petrol light?
I also Looked online at some forums and they are explaining it could be:
Does anyone have any experience themselves with this problem, and did they manage to get it fixed, which one of the above does it sound most likely to be?
I don't wanna pay huge amounts of money on a trial and error game, If it is something simple.
Some notes I think could be related:
Does anyone have any ideas on things I try and do myself to fix it, before I get robbed?
Thanks a lot,
Terence

I also Looked online at some forums and they are explaining it could be:
- Throttle Body Needs Cleaning
- Acceleration Sensors need Cleaning
- Wiring Loom is chafed and needs fixing
- Throttle Body needs to be completely replaced
- Sensors to be replaced

Some notes I think could be related:
- Battery Almost ran out - maybe to ECU got Skewed?
- Ran out of petrol driving last week, could be related?
- Whilst camping it was wet and a lot of mud was wheel-spinned, could have hit the sensors?
- Had Spark Plugs & HT/Ignition Leads Replaced 5 months ago (ECU Light and loss power was present)
Does anyone have any ideas on things I try and do myself to fix it, before I get robbed?
Thanks a lot,
