Hello everybody!
I am thinking on changing the clutch on my Modus myself. I got the repair manual, I took out the important photos, bought the parts, rented a garage... Is there any hidden detail that I shoulf be aware of, careful and so on?
I've done some repairing to all the cars I had, but never a hydraulic clutch..
Thank you!

You mention "Hydraulic Clutch". If so, I take it you have the QS5 gearbox?? A semi automatic box. It is actually a manual gearbox with hydraulic & electronic actuators which "press" the clutch pedal for you.

The clutch is the same as a manual clutch & can be changed as easily, once the box is removed. However, refitting the hydraulic thrust bearing & bleeding is another matter. Don`t know if you will need to re-bleed, never done one myself, but the Renault workshop manual calls for an electronic command from the computer to bleed the hydraulics, also, the "Bite" of the clutch has to be set the same way.

If you find, when rebuilt, problems with the clutch working properly, let Reno re-programme it for you.

You mention a workshop manual, is this the Renault version, as far as I know, Haynes haven't made one for the Modus. If its a manual box with a clutch pedal, you shouldn't have any problems.

Hey
Thank you for the quick feedback.
The car has a manual gearbox, but the slave cylinder is also the clutch bearring, that`s why I said it`s hydraulic. Regarding the manual, yes, it is the Renault edition, Ebay edition :)
There are a few things to be careful about, when replacing, and that is why I asked about hidden catches, if there are any, that the manual doesn`t reffer to.
I will do it on Friday. I`ll take some pictures, so if anybody is interested, give me a buzz!

Don`t think you`l have any probs, I think its section 21 in the book. I`d fit new drive shaft seals while its down too, nowt worse than having to strip something down again. Are you changing the release bearing too?

Mine is the QS5, its nice when its working right.:)
