Could you please add a sketch of the layout you are aiming for. Its a bit difficult to picture it from your lengthy description.

Are you looking to fit one Espace bench seat or do you want to fit 2 x bench seats? I take it you want to leave the drivers and passengers front seats as forward facing only and not forming part of the dining area?

Are the seats to form part of a bed? and have you looked at the VW seating style of rock 'n' roll beds?

Sorry if it doesn't make sense. I'm converting a master/movano. Thinking to keep the cab as it is.


Dining area is totally separated at the back, espace seat are single so two single (rear facing), facing two single (front facing).
Not thinking these would do a bed just normal seatting with seatbelt when i need to carry passengers.


A lot of rock and roll have no seat belt that why i'm not interested much, when they do they seem to be very expensive

Are you going to construct metal seat boxes on which to mount the seat rails and achieve the desired seating height?

If so will that impede foot room at floor level and also limit flexibily of using the floor area for any other purpose?

Have you also considered seats from a minibus/minicoach type vehicle that are floor mounted and also have the seatbelt anchorages built-in on every individual seat.

I'm still at the conception phase to be honest.

Van will be use 80% of the time to drive the 3 of us to the beach with the 4 seat in the back for picnick
10% of the time for camping at 3
10% we will need extra seat for visitor.

I wasn't planning the building of a frame. I though the low heigh wouldn't be an issue as they would rarely get used for travelling.
Minibus seat are an option, also i find the espace seat look better, are probably more comfy, and they fold, can be turned round, even be removed, or slide...

I had thought my fold down bed could fold out above the folded seat which is not an option with minibus seat has they don't move.
I'm really not settle yet to which way i want to go.
In my previous van i had some nissan elgrand swivel double seat which where good, small, versatile. Like the espace seat they were pretty low but rarely used for travelling.

 

1) do they all fold down flat?


2) is some of them swivel?


3) else can they be clipped on the rail forward or backward regardless?

could you explain me how they work? do you put 4 seat in the long one or only two? is it long because the seat can slide along? is it the middle row is on long slider and the 3rd row on short sliders?


5) on the picture from under the rail there seem to be a couple of thing which protrude down what are these?

1. They all fold down flat

2. Certain models of espace have swivel front seats, think these are the v6. But the rears dont swivel. All the rear seats unlock quickly of course

3. They can be clipped round on the rails either way

4. All these questions can be simplified to the fact the rails are all the same width and the system with them and the seats totally flexible. As long as the rails are a seat width apart you can fix the seats anyway.

5. in the pictures within that rail is a sliding fixing which contains a clip for one front clip of a seat and one rear clip of the same seat, the silver parts at each end of the plastic. So two short rails lets you fix down one seat with some sliding movement within that.

You also need a plastic tool which comes with the espace to move the sliders, these move up and down the rail to make the system more flexible. the long rail has two sliders, so with two long rails you can fix down two seats.

its more a day out vehicle for air b n b.. but if i need to sleep in there, I can just unclip one seat, fold it and put it on the front seat. My roll out bed with roll up mattress is stored in a roofbag on the rack.

That is an idea if i had a bed at the back that need unfolding for camping use i could always put a couple of seat in the cab while sleeping. Good point.
