For what it's worth - I wanted to test this before hacking up my steering column, and I couldn't find details on the white connector (by the headlight adjuster).

You'd need to use a on-off-on latching switch, and the pinouts of the connector (looking from the bottom) are as follows :
Code:
+--+--+
|##| C|
+--+--+
| | X|
+--+--+
| L| |
+--+--+

Where ## is the missing pin, X is the common wire, C
is Cruise Control mode, and L is limit mode.
Also, for what it's worth, it all worked, and I went down the 'extra radio stalk' route, but I decided to stuff all the resistors into the stalk, and snip some tracks. My stalk (mounted on the opposite side to the radio) has Vol+ as Speed-, Vol- as Speed+, Mute as Restore, and the top and bottom buttons all as Cancel).

£10 in a local breakers for a spare radio stalk and a handful of resistors later, and I'm very happy (apart from the lack of daskboard lights - but I don't have a clip, and I'm don't want to pay £100 for the privilege). Is there an easy way??

On thing I did notice though is that the speed limiter 'kickdown' function doesn't appear to work - it doesn't matter how hard I stand on the accelerator, it won't budge over the limit unless you disengage SL.

To get the Steering column cowling off there are 2 to 4 T25/27 Torx screws clamping the two halfs together. have a look at teh underneath and you should find the holes they are located in.

if you have the connetors already fitted on the loom, just plug the cc/sl switch in and flick it on and the lights should come on automatically on the dash. if they do, then its simply a job of either doing the above mods or, swapping steering wheel(inc cc/sl controls), column neck with connector spool, accelerator pedal(with kick-down override), switches in control panel.
Can you use a scenic steering wheel, for megane? Cause i just bought one. :) im new btw HI all.

Gret thread, just what I was looking for..

However, on my 05/55 Grand Scenic Dci Priv, I don't appear to have the connector for the cruise "on/off" switch, ie the one on the same panel as the instrument dimmer/headlight adjust..

Does this mean I don't have the facility to fit this?

Mike

Did you get this sorted?

could you not use the correct cc control as this would fit directly onto the back of the clock spring. Just 2 screws. would the connections be the same as the ones shown.

The loom should be vehicle specific hence having all connections for all extras, if i am correct.

not off till the weekend so will have a look into this...

Nice thread for retro fit...

I am just about to do this. Can you confirm, with a diagram which pins you connected up to which to perform the different functions and also which wire you hen connected them to on the column.
Thanks

If your car does not have the switch under the accelerator (which would be normal for automatic, and unexpected on a manual) then it will not have the "kick-down release" of the speed limiter.
Probably needs another visit to the scrappie to get this extra switch.

Great thread, BTW. Good to know that an extra box to run the cruise control is not needed.

On this thread, I modified the radio control to give four function buttons.

And when I fitted this control to my Laguna 2, I found that I did not need any extra switches on the pedals, and only the selection switch (CC/SL) on the dashboard was required.

Result!

Hi What a Great thread read all the way though just wondered if this will work on a MK4 espace, Going to have a go on the wifes scenic II first. I like the control switch set up will save a fortune on parts. :d

Re: Megane cruise control, retro fitted, how to guide

Do you know if I can use the resistor set up on my grand scenic II, it has a place for the on/off control under the indicator stalk rather than next to the headlight aim adjuster, but if the wires are there guess should be almost the same??

It works on the espace I try to put on some pics and how to as soon as I get chance

I've just changed the squib. There was an extra connector to my old one, am I right in thinking that with the right steering wheel, no mods would need to be made? Just plug in to the new steering wheel?

Hi guys thinking about fitting this, once ive paid for new engine mounts. Anyhoo what happens in the situation where you have an accident (enough to activate air bags) with cruise control/speed limiter enabled. Will it be able to shut it off like standard? If not i think ill avoid it. Ta :)
