This a very minor query but I have an 03 reg Scenic 1.4 Authentique (99-03 series) whose radio aerial seems to have lost its protective cap at the end furthest from the car. However as I don't know if it ever have had one in the first place I would be grateful if anyone could clarify this for me. The radio itself works absolutely fine.

Thanks very much for this. If it helps the aerial on my car is quite long - about a couple of feet or more - and tapers. Its attached to a plastic up-and-down swivel the front of the roof.

I'm pretty certain that it's the original Renault supplied aerial and if it did have a cover on the end this may have been lost when it got snagged on a garage door.

Thanks very much indeed for this and for taking the trouble to attach a photo.

Obviously this confirms that the cap is missing but I suspect that it is only put there to stop people impaling themselves on the end in the very unlikely event that they could get in a position to do so! In the circumstances I think that it's probably quite safe to leave it as it is, particularly as there doesn't seem to be any impact on reception quality.
