Power / torque curve for Clio 1.2 D7F engine

Has anybody got a power / torque curve graph for the above - I cannot find one online.

I believe maximum power is reached at a very convenient 5250rpm (so lets call it 5252 rpm), which means maximum torque is also at that engine speed.

Now I have a tacho fitted I have checked the gearing / speedo correlations and am curious as to what the torque curve looks like.

The gearing suggests maximum speed (yeah, I know, with a 1.2 :d) should be attained in 4th but I suspect the power / torque fall off pretty rapidly so top speed is in fact reached in 5th.

Hey madnoel10, thanks for pointing me in the right direction :d

Of course maximum torque is not at the same point as maximum power, (what sort of idiot wrote that rubbish :eek: :forehead:) it's just that at 5252 rpm the power in bhp and the torque in lb/ft happen to have the same value, which is what I would have said if my brain had been working.

I changed my google search and with a bit of parallel thinking found a test torque curve for a Twingo with what I believe is the same engine.

It's not exactly what I wanted because it is giving power / torque at the wheels, rather than the flywheel which is what a manufacturers dyno graph normally shows, but it will do the job as it is the shape of the curve I was interested in. I think it's a little bit confusing when they talk about an 11% discrepancy against manufacturers figures - there will always be a shortfall due to drivetrain losses and I am wondering why they did not add those back to get flywheel figures ?

The graph seems to confirm my initial expectations, but I'm off now to do some more calculations. Nice to see the data table confirming power=torque at 5251 rpm, but have you seen how low the air pressure was when the test was being carried out - hence the 5.5% correction

For anyone else who is interested there are real world tests for another 27 Renaults - still interested the seeing an official flywheel graph
