Good evening everyone, new to site and of course I've got a problem with my Renault. I have had a search on the site but cannot find anything directly related to my issue (if i'm wrong please re direct me) so i'm after some help and/or advice please.
My 2.0 dci 2008 traffic wont start at all. It nearly catches but just wont run. After cranking for about 10 secs the small stop light comes on and then will show code P0203, injector 3 circuit on the scanner. Would and injector stop it running all together ?
This is the path it took, (1) drove perfectly, (2) would sometimes hesitate slightly under acceleration/load (3) when cruising at motorway speeds engine stop light would randomly come on, back off slightly and it would go out and continue driving ok. (4) Now when accelerating to overtake at motorway speeds, ignition would appear to cut out, rev counter would dive down momentarily and would feel as though brake pedal had been stamped on, but would then pick up and drive again.. obviously at this point I knew I had a real problem. code reader at this point read injector 3 code p0203, but when cleared would drive ok and not show any codes after a run if none of the above had occurred during that drive..
The van is not used every day as a work vehicle and was parked for a couple of weeks. (5) started van and it was definitely missing/ running rough. thought it might just need a run but was really lacking in power and pretty unusable.. Strangely at this point it showed no fault codes.Van did not smoke or anything at any stage. got somebody out to diagnose but read no codes also. Obvious problem as missing and no power but no fault codes. said probably injector fault but did not want to take on job as "they seize in head"
(7) Now wont start at all, could all this really be down to one injector ? ? I know i've gone on a bit but this is the full story and it might make more sense with all the detail. Don't want to throw a fortune at a lemon I only use now and then.
Any help would be greatly appreciated ..

Thanks Guys

Sadly, on these, if an injector fails, often short to earth. The ECU shuts down to protect itself. :grin2:
There are Tragic & Injector Removal experts about. Perhaps post your General Location & I'll see who is closest.
They won't be cheap, but they are good & you'll save in the long run. Rather than some back Street Herbert Who blames the most expensive thing (Usually ECU) to cover their considerable Ar$es.

Thanks again guys. I did try disconnecting no.3 when I could still get it to start to Id which cylinder was misfiring, and when I did it made no difference to the way the van ran, ie still missing. Incidently I gather the ecu pairs the injectors as when I disconnected no.1 that also made no difference, but both together and it would stop. Bloody thing.

300 notes per injector is taking the pee.
Removal is either a 2 minute job (once you have taken off covers and other bits to get to them) or could be couple of hours with specialised kit.
And you don't know which until you try but that is no reason to quote that sorta figure up front.
Recon injectors around 100 quid BTW.

The M9R suffers from rusted in injectors. Whole Watchdog Jobbie, due to poor scuttle sealing.
My man will change the lot for £1000. But he's in Bolsover & has special equipment for when the 20 Ton Portapak can't shift them. What's more the 2008 ones are Piezo & AFAIK not rebuildable.

He has heard the same nightmares. because the engine is still a runner. pour Penetrating Oil over the injectors, warm the engine, do this for a few days , the PO will start to work and help in getting them to come out.
Cannot get a non running engine hot, so do it while its still a runner..
dont forget a proper diagnostic first though..

Ha, just gets better . wont start any more so cant warm it, they are piezo injectors but have been told they can be re built, not sure how true that is,. Need a proper diagnostic from someone who is prepared to do the work, not someone who tells me its the injector, pass it to someone else and its the pressure regulator after it still wont start. not running now so need a mobile or tow it in somewhere, bit iffy no power steering or brakes ! Been busy this week, need to get on it. .

Get a can of Easy Start, and spray through any orifice that goes to the inlet manifold, Would normally say through the turbo mouth, but depending how easy to get at,,..
Once running you need to get it scanned on live data..
This will show what each injector is doing if a decent scanner..

Thanks again guys, not catching even on easy start ! can I fit a resistor in place of injector 3 to fool the ecu into not shutting itself down, as that's the consistant code on the scanner when cranking ? looks like resistance is between 150k - 210k ohms, any thoughts ? payday next week so can call someone out, January is a long month ! !

Need to get to the turbo mouth then and spray in through there..
Should make no difference if injectors were not connected.
Its a fuel in its own right, so ECU and components are ignored..
Can use upto half a can just to get it running...

Ok so will run on easy start. got it diagnosed today and the guy says no.2 injector is knackered on ohms test, only testing 3 ohms !!! even though code reader says injector no.3 ? ? which he also confirmed with his own diagnostic.. The strange thing is, when the van was still running, if I unplugged no.2 it would stop but if I unplugged no.3 it would make no difference ? ? confused.. anyway that's where we are at the mo.. Also recons all other injectors have lower than spec ohms readings, looks like its gonna get expensive ! !

Thats correct,no.1 is timing chain end on the 2.0. have not swapped injector yet, as if it was that easy I would have whipped em out, lol. Not quite sure why code reader says no.3 but physical ohms test says no.2 ? ?. From the look of the injectors, the electronic part, the top section, is a separate unit from the rest of the injector. Is it only this electronic part that goes faulty due to the water ingress ? if so can this be changed and coded separately from the seized in body of the injector.. sure would save some aggro. . .
