I had a "problem" with the clutch on my 2003 2.2dCi which needed a clutch at 21,000 miles. We are not clutch users so were surprised to here this. Renault replaced the clutch 80% under warranty we payed the balance.

About a month later the car was recalled for a modification to the clutch pedal - a stronger spring! Check whether your car has been recalled for this mod. second clutch doing fine and we are now at about 44,000 miles. Hopes that helps.

Considering the force I have to use to get the pedal back up I doubt a spring would be any good, but I will look into it cos you never know....

 

The Renault hydraulic clutch master cylinders are a known weak point on many models. Sometimes a lighweight return spring helps but in many cases the only remedy is to fit a new clutch master cylinder

 

i am having the very same problem in my 52 plate espace .i find if i pump it a few times it works fine for a while then next day its back to sticking again.also a previous owner has made a half arsed attempt to fit a spring which kept popping off and also made the pedal very heavy.dont think a spring the answer or it would've been factory fitted.dont no about you but i sometimes have trouble changing gear when the pedal sticking but not when i free it up a bit and get it operating propely
