Grand scenic III, change settings of automatic parking brake

Last year mine started to get a bit temperamental and not release when driving off sometimes. Problem went away when I fitted new pads.

My driver's manual states...
"The electronic parking brake ensures vehicle immobilisation when the engine is stopped and engine Start/Stop button is pressed. In all other instances, e.g. engine stalling, the electronic parking brake is not applied automatically. Manual mode must be used".

So, is it possible to change the settings in the hand brake so that it automatically engages when I stop the car?

Thanks!
OK my car is an automatic, but every time I press the engine STOP button, the parking brake engages automatically. When I drive off, it releases. Nothing else. On a hill, engine running, I have to engage it manually if I need to. I drive with both feet but the car actually prefers me to use the handbrake for a hill start, both in forward and reverse.

EDIT: Maybe I don't have a hill start capability - or it never worked (nothing in the driver's manual)
