the lights are xenon lights and give poor lighting as you have a big black void they seem to be very low. i have had them checked at a garage and they said they are correct for the mot test but they seem to be low all the time you are driving, that bad that i and my mate with me could not see a branch that had fallen in the road, hence i have had to have a new front to my car, regards richard

I dont know how to adjust renault self leveling lights but I do use HID xenons and use the manual load leveling switch to actually drop mine a little.
The springs have been changed too and the rear is slightly lower than normal.
Assuming there is no driver switch to vary start height on self leving lamps..
From reading
Vag cars with self leveling lamps have a "program test and set cycle"
It s initiated with the headlamps set at exactly the correct height, presumably to MOT testing regs. Then the leveling system goes thro the height adjust ment range, presumably by using the suspension sensor settings that exist at the time of the test. This is then locked into memory so that the lights will move the correct amount when the sensor arms move.

Point is there must be some sort of mechancal adjustment even is its very small to set the beams at the correct height prior to test and set.

It should be possible on renaults too..All i can suggest is check around the mountings first, to see if there is any mechanical method.
What it may be tho is
Mechanicsets the height electrically to a "start position with the headlight motors :(..then the uch goes thru its test cycle.
In that case , get your local decent mechanic to set the beams just a lil bit higher(dont glare oncoming drivers), if renault are unwilling to do it.
The trouble with that is you will have to get it redone before MOT.

I allways(on my old car got the lights adjusted so they were at full height on position 2 of the interior headlamp adjuster.
putting the headlamp adjuster to position 1 would raise the beams v slightly.
For MoT the headlamps were adjusted to be at full height at position 1 (as the MOT/NCT testers allways set them to position 1 or 0 depending on what is the highest headlamp setting on non self leveling cars).

self leveling mechanisns if fitted have to work for MOT afaik.
