YEP YOUR PULLEY IS FALLING APART i HAVE JUST HAD THE SAME POBLEM. the altenator should be a quick repair but on my megane 2 sport tourer the tensioner has to come off which is a ***** of a job as no space to get tools/hands in. this is required to allow you to get to the bottom alterator bolt which is another tricky job because of space. Then the HAYNES manual says i might need to take the radiator out to get the alternator out. This procedure has now been put off to the weekend as I know i I am going to get bloddy Knuckles and frustrated. I have changed the alternator on other cars I have owned in 30 minutes but I am going to give myself a day!!

 

Update/ Tips
Disconnect the battery!!

1) I only needed to loosen the tensioner to give me enough space to get my socket on the bottom bolt.
2) When you pull the bottom bolt it looks like the car body will prevent the bolt coming out. However pull the alternator down and lever forward and the alternator has a cut out to let it out with the bolt pulled out as far as the body allows. I was going to cut the bolt just before I spotted this.
3) your going to have to disconnect the Fuel lines but these are Quick release so no problem.
4) Disconnect the big Jubilee on the air intake to get the solid pipe out of the way.
5) Push the other flexi out of the way under the alternator as it comes up.
6) Now it took me about 15 mins to continually turn and move the alternator up and right and it does come out but only just.
6) No need to remove the radiator!
7) The pulley replacement needs a special tool €20 on E-Bay and worth it.Makes the job easy.
8) refitting the alternator back into position is going to be as awkward but if it came out it must go back.

dude that happened to my megane too it was making a hissing/rattling noise and there was shards of metal everywhere. Turned out to be the bearings. The alternator was scrap in the end as it caught fire one day and bellowed out blue smoke. Had to get a completely new unit put in.....lucky i have RAC warranty!!!!!!

 

Update,
I replaced the pulley. Alternator is ok.
Right here is a tip.
When you ring the Renault dealer they will say they only supply the pulley on an alternator.
However I have found the OEM number for the pulley on its own.
Quote this number to your renault dealer 82 00 113 636 and amazingly enough this is the OE pulley. It cost £38. and the car is running sweet again.

I have the same problem as you, the pully has split in two shredding the belt as it went!

Can I ask...
1) does the new pully (8200 113 636) have a hex style nut? The one I have now is of that type, a lot of pulleys seem to use a splined fitting.

2) I was thinking of getting a sealey sx400 kit, will this do the job?

3)Do you think it's possible to replace it without removing the alternator?

I had the same problem on my 1.9dCI. I removed the pulley and made it solid. Car has been running for ages now and no problems. Also made my own belt tensioner. Both worked out much cheaper than the OEM parts from Renault.
