Hi all I hope you can help,

I have read through all of the threads with regards to a problem similar to mine but haven't come accross a solution so far, I am currently unable to start my car due to the immobiliser being constantly engaged the red light is flashing on the dash and the central locking is not responding to the keyfob. When in the car if I press the central locking button on the console the doors lock and unlock, so I know the central locking system is fine.

I too have removed the remote sensor receiver located in the interior lighting display only too find water has escaped from the aerial above, and fallen onto the PCB and sensor I have removed this and dried it with a hair drier as mentioned in previous threads, but alas this hasn't worked I understand it is possible to buy a new part but can I simply replace it or will I have to have the new part coded to the keyfob and the car, the part is seimens I noticed in a previous thread that this part can be purchased for around £60 but it didn't mention if it had to be coded.

In avance I would like to thank anyone who can help me with this problem and await your reply.

I did it, i changed everything over and over and over, but not that i thought it would change anything i took the tiny transponder from one key fob to another, (they both worked on the car) and hey presto the car started. why it worked i dont know, it worked im off, only to discover that by replacing the starter moror from the top of the engine (i read all the threads and have a haynes manual) i must have nicked the oil return turbo pipe and now have a drive way to clean, oh well some rubber pipe jubilee clips and some driveway cleaner it is for me

Doh... The battery was totally flat. I must have left something on in the car overnight. I didn't know that it could cause the alarm to go off and everything to hang up.
I rang the service guys at Renault, who said that I should remove the alarm because there are no factory fitted alarms on 2002 models????
If that didn't work, I would have to tow it to them to put on the diagnostics computer. So I rang a mechanic friend, and he came around, saw the fault straight away and fixed it in 2 minutes with a jump start.

Hi, I have a 2002 Scenic 1.6 Petrol Automatic.
The alarm came on at 5:30 am and neither of my 2 keys would turn it off. I had to disconnect the battery to silence it. As soon as the battery is reconnected the alarm keeps sounding, and there some kind of clicking noise from the area of the fuse box in the car.

The alarm will stop if I turn the key fully in the ignition, but the car will not start. As soon as I let the key slightly back from full in the ignition slot, then the alarm starts again.

Any ideas?

Which type of immobiliser do you have? My 1998 dTi has the type where you have 30 seconds from unlocking to starting the engine, or else you have to lock and re-unlock the doors. There is one coin-type cell in each key and the batteries seem to last for about 6 or 7 years (I've changed them twice in almost 16 years). A little later on, I believe that the immobiliser was changed to an RF type, and there is no time limit between unlocking the doors and starting the engine, before the immobiliser cuts in

Could be posting in completely the wrong place, but I'm desperately needing assistance.

I currently drive a 1998 renault megane scenic which I've had second hand for less than a year and it just keeps eating up key fob batteries like nobodies business, I have 2 keys and they both seem to be as bad as each other, can anyone help me solve this problem please, or will I need to spend £200+ on a new key

Somebody jammed a wire into the lock on the passengers side of my Scenic I, whilst it was in a car park. I think there's a bit of wire left in the barrel as it wont turn. I need to get this sorted as I've only one electronic central locking key, and it I lose it I wont be able to open the car. What way should I approach this? Take off the door trim and try clear the lock barrel? Is that easy enough to do? Thanks!

hi i am looking for help with my 1997 megane scenic, the battery keeps disconnecting! well thats what seems to happen, it goes like this; get in car immobiliser turned off, put key in ignition, turn key, display goes dead, cannot turn car over. now immobiliser and everything dead. to over come this I have to jolt the car or open bonnet and fiddle with main fuse (which the AA have already replaced) I paid auto electrician to "fix it" he apparently did something then told me not to use key fob to lock the car remotely so i dont but the fault has started again!
Ahhhhh

Hi everyone. for the past week my remote locking decided to play silly buggers. to make matters worse i was 200 miles from home on holiday. well the locking lasted the week although i had to be very close for the remote to work. the tell tale light on the key was working but i changed the batteries all the same but still no difference. anyway me and the family got home with no problems but when i had unloaded the car and went to lock it the thing refused to lock although the light was still coming on. i then logged onto this thread and decided to check if my key needed to be re programmed. i dismantled the key to find the keycode and then i found that the small transmitter that is soldered to the little circuit board had come unsoldered. i decided to re solder it and see if it worked. someone must have been looking down on me as it now works perfect. no messing about inputting codes, just a quick solder job and hey presto. at least i saved over £150. :d:d:d:d:d

Hi
Not used to this site so not sure if a reply will get my questions answered.
My 1999 Megane Scenic Remote locking packed up recently. I checked for the sensor near rear view mirror and the compartment was empty, so this car must have sensor elsewhere. The other day the locking burst back into life.
1 Could I have disabled it and somehow re-enabled it with key strokes or something?
2 Any ideas where the electronics are for the remote locking unit?

thanks in advance

parents megane scenic got problem, the key fob totally died, paid for replacement keyfob, once renault had recoded the new fob they then said that there is now a problem with the CL, any ideas what it could be, (the car (central locking, immobiliser etc) was working perfectly fine before the fob failed) they are now using the immo code which renault gave them free of charge as they were going on holiday in the car the next day, is there any way to do a resync of the fob and car without paying renault to do it? thanks

Immobiliser will not deactivate

Hello Stephen,
Thank you for your reply. I have since identified the ignition keys as RF (Radio Freqency) - no code. My problem is with either key in the ignision the immobiliser will not turn off, the Scenic is in our garage and I can not start her to take to the local Renault garage to fix the immobiliser.

how to find out if its a RF/IR key

Hello fellow sufferer of everyday challenges,

To check what key you have get your self a mobile phone with a camera and put the phone in camera mode put the key infront of the lense and press the key fob if when you look through the viewer of the phone you see that the there is a blue flashing coming from the key (the clear bulb on the key fob not the flashing red light where your thub is pressing) this means you have an IR key if not you have a RF one.

As for fixing the immobiliser I got in touch with my local renault dealer and got the code from them it cost £20 but I found it well worth it rather than going without a car.

Check the interior sensor located above you as you sit in the front driver seat the sensor could have been damaged from water leaking from the aerial. Hope this helps steve..

Immobiliser will not deactivate

Hello, I am new to the forum and after some advise. I have a year 2000 Scenic 1.6 petrol. I have two keys and the blip on both keys lock and open the doors with flashing indicators. Recently with either key in the ignition the red light on the dash flashes faster and the car will not start. (The engine turns over but will not fire). This is the fourth time in as many weeks it usually fixes it self after a few hours, but yesterday and today it will not deactivate at all. I believe I can switch the immobliser off with a code. What type of number am I looking for inside the key - how many numbers/letters? Also how do I now if I have an IR or RF key?
Hope to hear from a fellow enthusiast
