Hi all I hope you can help,

I have read through all of the threads with regards to a problem similar to mine but haven't come accross a solution so far, I am currently unable to start my car due to the immobiliser being constantly engaged the red light is flashing on the dash and the central locking is not responding to the keyfob. When in the car if I press the central locking button on the console the doors lock and unlock, so I know the central locking system is fine.

I too have removed the remote sensor receiver located in the interior lighting display only too find water has escaped from the aerial above, and fallen onto the PCB and sensor I have removed this and dried it with a hair drier as mentioned in previous threads, but alas this hasn't worked I understand it is possible to buy a new part but can I simply replace it or will I have to have the new part coded to the keyfob and the car, the part is seimens I noticed in a previous thread that this part can be purchased for around £60 but it didn't mention if it had to be coded.

In avance I would like to thank anyone who can help me with this problem and await your reply.

I did it!!!!!!!!!

I did it,
I managed to input the immobiliser code, and found I could start the car, grrrrreat!

The only question I have now is can I re-syncronise the keyfob to the car. If so how is it done? Anyone know the proceedure of re phasing or re syncronising.

Again a big thank you to this forum and it's hive of information..

Best regards Steve.....................

i'v been told if you put the key in the ignition on no1 turn of key, then activate the central locking it then sets your key to imobilizer, and this definatly works on laguna

There is a method to resync, but it often doesn't work:

Turn the ignition on, input the 4 digit code, when all numbers entered, ignition off and hold down central locking button immo light remains constant, press key on/off quickly towards interior mirror.

Hopefully plip will resync.

Once immo light starts flashing -ign on/off and hold c/l button down again until red light remains constant and try again, may take a few goes.

Do you have the code? If so the procedure is simple.

1- hold central locking button down red immo light flashes slowly count number of 1st digit of immo code and release.
2- hold down central locking button and count 2nd digit and release
3- repeat for 3rd and 4th digits
4- Immo light will illuminate constant, start the car.

eg 2543 press and hold for 2 flashes and release, press and hold for 5 flashes and release, etc...

If you don't have the code, contact me.

Immobiliser will not deactivate

Hello, I am new to the forum and after some advise. I have a year 2000 Scenic 1.6 petrol. I have two keys and the blip on both keys lock and open the doors with flashing indicators. Recently with either key in the ignition the red light on the dash flashes faster and the car will not start. (The engine turns over but will not fire). This is the fourth time in as many weeks it usually fixes it self after a few hours, but yesterday and today it will not deactivate at all. I believe I can switch the immobliser off with a code. What type of number am I looking for inside the key - how many numbers/letters? Also how do I now if I have an IR or RF key?
Hope to hear from a fellow enthusiast

how to find out if its a RF/IR key

Hello fellow sufferer of everyday challenges,

To check what key you have get your self a mobile phone with a camera and put the phone in camera mode put the key infront of the lense and press the key fob if when you look through the viewer of the phone you see that the there is a blue flashing coming from the key (the clear bulb on the key fob not the flashing red light where your thub is pressing) this means you have an IR key if not you have a RF one.

As for fixing the immobiliser I got in touch with my local renault dealer and got the code from them it cost £20 but I found it well worth it rather than going without a car.

Check the interior sensor located above you as you sit in the front driver seat the sensor could have been damaged from water leaking from the aerial. Hope this helps steve..

Immobiliser will not deactivate

Hello Stephen,
Thank you for your reply. I have since identified the ignition keys as RF (Radio Freqency) - no code. My problem is with either key in the ignision the immobiliser will not turn off, the Scenic is in our garage and I can not start her to take to the local Renault garage to fix the immobiliser.
ARRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRR HELP

parents megane scenic got problem, the key fob totally died, paid for replacement keyfob, once renault had recoded the new fob they then said that there is now a problem with the CL, any ideas what it could be, (the car (central locking, immobiliser etc) was working perfectly fine before the fob failed) they are now using the immo code which renault gave them free of charge as they were going on holiday in the car the next day, is there any way to do a resync of the fob and car without paying renault to do it? thanks

Hi
Not used to this site so not sure if a reply will get my questions answered.
My 1999 Megane Scenic Remote locking packed up recently. I checked for the sensor near rear view mirror and the compartment was empty, so this car must have sensor elsewhere. The other day the locking burst back into life.
1 Could I have disabled it and somehow re-enabled it with key strokes or something?
2 Any ideas where the electronics are for the remote locking unit?

thanks in advance

Hi everyone. for the past week my remote locking decided to play silly buggers. to make matters worse i was 200 miles from home on holiday. well the locking lasted the week although i had to be very close for the remote to work. the tell tale light on the key was working but i changed the batteries all the same but still no difference. anyway me and the family got home with no problems but when i had unloaded the car and went to lock it the thing refused to lock although the light was still coming on. i then logged onto this thread and decided to check if my key needed to be re programmed. i dismantled the key to find the keycode and then i found that the small transmitter that is soldered to the little circuit board had come unsoldered. i decided to re solder it and see if it worked. someone must have been looking down on me as it now works perfect. no messing about inputting codes, just a quick solder job and hey presto. at least i saved over £150. :d:d:d:d:d

hi i am looking for help with my 1997 megane scenic, the battery keeps disconnecting! well thats what seems to happen, it goes like this; get in car immobiliser turned off, put key in ignition, turn key, display goes dead, cannot turn car over. now immobiliser and everything dead. to over come this I have to jolt the car or open bonnet and fiddle with main fuse (which the AA have already replaced) I paid auto electrician to "fix it" he apparently did something then told me not to use key fob to lock the car remotely so i dont but the fault has started again!
Ahhhhh
