Greetings.
There is a limiter on revs if not in gear, call it self protection. So ignore that bit.
Check the pipes to the exhaust pressure sensor are not collapsed, twisted, blocked or perished.
I'm too new to my Trafic to advise any more, I'm a petrolhead at heart.:laugh:

Hi Thanks for the reply. I've had the van just over a year. It only had a full service a month ago.

 

Sounds like a maf sensor fault,
(No black smoke, when acceleration, or while driving, is it idling ok..)
If its doing it every time, not now and again, would check the maf sensor.
Has fuel consumption dropped, or you have not really monitored fuel consumption..
Not sure if these can be cleaned and not give an issue, Notnnoc should be able to help on that part..

 

Don't Touch, Don't Spray, DEFFO NOT WD40, Very fine wire filament inside. Blow out, if you must, towards the air filter. If you bog it up, ONLY OEM, not even ECP which claim to be OEM & No way ebay.
Is that clear enough???

 

Wasnt sure if someone from other forum you used, had come across something.
I just change them, but not my money, so dont like to Say, spend 148£ on just symptoms.
Never found any work other than Genuine.... but a lot of money without a diagnostic.
With a diagnostic, the fault should be a circuit down, if that helps.
If its a fault/happened more that 4 times IT will be stored, as long as battery has not been taken off..

 

Hi. It idles fine and I haven't noticed any black smoke. I did wonder about the maf sensor. I think you can clean them with the right cleaner. I'll perhaps try that first. Thanks for the advice.

One more question, will it damage anything if I keep on driving it? I'm away at the moment so could be a week before I can get someone to look at it. Cheers.

 

Probably not.

 

If map sensor is at fault no, no, you can try unplugging it, see if it runs better than it is.
Default values take over, not the same as limp mode...

 

You will however, get a dash nag, which can safely be ignored. But well worth a try, for diagnostic purposes. :laugh:

 

Re-lighting this thread to see if you ever got to the bottom of it?
I've got exactly the same issue, just been into renault and it showed maf sensor fault, which they replaced, but the problem persists, though the engine does now run better.
