The juddering could be air trapped in the system. The recognised method of bleeding is to turn the steerig from lock to lock a number of times with the filler cap removed - just be prepared for some spillage in case a large bubble of air should surface. It may also be prudent to re-check the drive belt in case it is snatching:)
 
The power steering system will have a pressure release valve which will allow the pump to bypass when assistance is not required. If this was faulty it could cause undue pressure to build up. Sorry but I ain't familiar with your vehicles set-up. Some vehicles have a such a valve fitted to the pump whilst others have it fitted to the steering rack. It may be worth having a hunt around the steering rack for such.:)
