May be stuck in the "stop" loop and not shut down properly

My first thought though is flat or poor battery.

The electronics on these are sensitive to voltage and will throw up random error messages with low battery levels.

When trying to start, does it crank
Try to crank
Make a knocking sound
???

Hi I had a similar problem with the same message but I had no brake pedal, It turned out to be the ABS chip had failed. With your car not starting then you will have brake pressure until the engine is started and the servo kicks in. Try checking the earth straps and the starter motor too, once you get the car started you may get a better picture of what's gone wrong. Hope this helps

Just an update.

Luckily for me it was just a flat battery. I jumped started the car with some jump leads and all seems ok.

Get your battery and charging system checked if the battery died for no apparent reason.

 

Me again!

So this morning I couldn't start the car again for about 10 mins. I had another message on the dash but this time saying 'Turn Steering Wheel + Start'. The steering wheel locked so i couldn't start the car.

I have a feeling that the battery is on the blink. Would you think that this is a possible cause?

It is a Likely battery fault, this weather soon finds duff batteries. :frown2:
Have you got your wheel under tension? Try wiggling wheel whilst pressing start button. Had this a couple of times.

I was trying that but to no avail.

It did eventually start again after about 10 mins of trying. About 2 mins into my journey to work, the Brake System Faulty message came up again and i lost power steering for about 5 seconds. It did however go back to normal but it was slightly worrying.

I have booked car in afterwork to get battery replaced but i will ask to get it tested before i do this to make sure its not something else!

Hi, you need the test your battery in null and under load and then read voltage values. If the battery OpzS, you need to know battery age. If about 5 Years old, probably it is end of its life.
1. step of testing; it should be 12,4-12,7V. It souldn't be under 12,2V and more than 12,9V.
2. Step; Engine should be not running.
When you try to start engine while you measure voltage value, it shouldn't get under 9,6V at first start. You need a assitant for that test. If you read less than 9,6V, you can suspect about sulphation.
I recommend OPzV type battery for long and stable life.
Security precautions must be taken in these processes!.

Was it the battery? I have exactly the same faults and error messages, also power steering has stopped, Speedo stopped, still drives but judders pulling off!
