Hi all,

I have a Renault Grand Scenic 2005 1.6 petrol.

Issues:

Warning light came up on dashboard : Check Emissions

Engine is vibrating when I start it up, loss of power when driving, starting off from traffic lights I need to really accelerate!

i have attached a video* & photo.

I am not sure where to start, spark plugs? battery? Cat? Lambda sensor? :(

any advice welcome please.

Car IS starting and driving but I feel like the car is one big vibrator

Classic Coil failure IMHO.
One Cannot unplug individual coils as they fire in pairs, so unplugging one kills two.
Only way is to buy a coil & swap it down the line.
Very common on the K4M engine.
Take the opportunity to change or re-gap the plugs. As wide plug gaps cause the coils to fail. HTH.

Thanks for that, I will be doing the job myself so any advice is welcome :)

Couple of Qs;

Do I have to disconnect the battery before removing the coils?
Do I have to replace all 4 coils?
are they (coils) in any particular order/size etc.. as in it labeled No.1

How do i i identify if its the coils OR the spark plugs that are my problem?

thanks in advance

No nead to disconnect the battery,,
Always replace plugs ,,, even if only one coil has gone,,, plugs that are old tend to kill coils ,, coils are working harder than designed..
I would recommend changing all coils,,, but if you are able to work out which one is gone, then you could just change one..
Sometimes, the amount of time, working out which coil is faulty, or which coil is getting lazy,, can take longer and become more frustrating, moving the coil about, than changing all 4

No problem doing that, but take the coils off in order, lay them down, noting which coil comes off which plug.
Take the plugs out, and put the plugs in its own coil. Do not mix them up...
Then replace your new plugs.
Look at the old plugs, the one that looks different,, in colour , or wet, ...
Put your new coil on that cylinder, ( same place/position you took the old plug/coil from)
