if you open the install
instructions pdf file that is just underneath the small picture of the product, the mysterious red port, is actually for the big plug you are holding in picture 1, the 3 spare wires on the connects 2 main kit
1. pink wire - speed pulse, if your system will allow the radio to increase volume with increased speed
2. green wire - is for parking brake, whatever that does I don’t know unless the Clio does something funky with the radio when the parking brake is applied
3. purple wire - is reverse sensor again whatever that does I don’t know unless the Clio does something funky with the radio when the parking brake is applied
It all depends on which Kenwood head unit you need from the list either the
CTKENWOODLEAD or
CTKENWODDLEAD2, you will need to have a look at the back of your new stereo to determine which one you need, the steering wheel remote input on your stereo harness needs to be connected to the single wire from the head lead in version 2 or if you have a connecter for version 1 you can use that connector OR the lead. then you can wire the other leads as you see fit, if you want the stereo to shut up if you are reversing connect the reversing sensor to the mute wire
Always always always connect the system up from the stereo backwards to the car, if the steering wheel remote is not connected before power is applied it will pick a dead signal (no steering wheel remote signal) and your steering wheel remote will not function, so I suggest the following: -
1. Purchase the Harness and correct Head Unit Lead
2. Connect the steering wheel remote cable to the head Unit Lead and then connect the head unit lead to the black box
3. Connect any other wiring you deem necessary from the flying leads you have remaining
4. Connect the stereo harness to the stereo, then connect everything to the car power and test before fully fitting to the car
for the love of all things green and bushy, don’t strip the wires, twist them round and bind them in insulation tape, it will work for about 6 months then the tape will break down and you will start to get random faults, use proper connectors. Get a crimping tool and crimps
Hope that helps :grin2::grin2:
