Hello and welcome to the forum have a check under the car in and around the fuel tank and if its not there just follow the fuel line iam sure you will find it all the best Donald

 

I believe the diesels have 2 pumps a high pressure and a low pressure

 

Hi Brade - I ain't sure about your vehicle but some of the scenics have a low pressure pump mounted on the inside of the right hand front wing. Rather than start from the tank you could trace the fuel pipes back from the main injection pump. Hope this helps

 

on my 2.2dci espace there is a fuel pump under the drivers seat area underneath the car.

 

Hi thanks for all your help, i have bitten the bullet and booked it in with renault to fit a new high pressure fuel pump, lets hope that it sorts out the problem. :crazy:

p.s i am going to the shed now to cut off an arm and leg to pay for it

Hi can someone let me know if the high pressure fuel pump on a 2.2dci master 2001 is mechanical or electric.

The truck is booked in for a new fuel pump, but I'm a little concerned as I recieved a phone call from Renualt today asking me if it was a mechanical or electrical pump

I told Renualt I didn't know and when I called them back later in the day they told me they think it would be mechanical and are going to go with that one. So obviously I am a little concerned....Could someone let me know if its mechanical or electrical and where I can check this on the truck

Hi Brade -as far as I can determine there are two pumps one is the low pressure pump which is electricaly driven and draws fuel from the tank to the high presure pump via the fuel filter and then to the high pressure pump which is mechanically driven. The low pressure pump is considerably cheaper than the high pressure pump and can be easily checked out by removing the pipe coming out of it and switching on the ignition. In my opinion if the garage are asking you which is which I would have my reservations about their knowledge and experience.

Hi new fuel pump fitted but still have the problem, it need a new fuel pump becaues there was metal filings in the fuel filter pot which were coming from the bearings of the fuel pump, and i thought that might be why the engine keeps on cutting out when driving, renault have been helpful and said try changing the TDC sensor and cleaning the EGR value, can somebody tell me were i will find these on the engine 2.2dci 2001.

here is a picture of mine, it is roughly under the gear stick area, but underneath the car towards the nearside.
the clip is underneath the pointy tool

 

Hi Brade - the TDC sensor is usually positioned on the flywheel end of the engine just above the gearbox housing. I am not certain but I think the EGR valve on your engine is just below the large rubber hose supplying air to the inlet manifold and is connected to the exhaust system by a flexi-metal concerina style pipe.
