04 Scenic 11 Heater Resistor.

HI ALL,
Just had the dubious pleasure of having a Scenic 2
heater resistor to replace. If you carefully prize away the
bezel on the instrument panel and remove 2 torx screws
holding the instuments in place.Behind this through a gap
in the dash ..look to the left and you will see the resistor unit fixed to the air box with one torx screw, there is a
multiplug with several wires fixed to this, it is possible to remove plug socket and the resistor although a bit fiddly.
The main blower motor feed and earth wires also go from resistor to blower motor on left hand side , behind lower dash glovebox so removal of lefthand lower dash may be necessary.
In the case i,m working on the multiplug has melted and a terminal burnt away . A new resistor is needed and also a small section of wiring loom with plug, this is a modified
section of wiring supplied by Renault so they are aware
of problems in this area.
Hope that this may help others to fix Scenic 2 blower faults.
PLEASE REMEMBER TO DISCONNECT BATTERY BEFORE DOING
ANY ELECTRICAL REPAIRS AND FIRST NOTE RADIO CODE.

Hi KAYJAY,

reading this post have been very helpful but I was wondering whether you could guide me through or let me know where I can find step-by-step instructions for getting to the heater resistor on a 2006 scenic II?

Any help will be greatly received.

Hi Burny,
I Have now changed several of these wiring looms with all purple wires (WELL DONE RENAULT).
Simply make sure you have both multi plugs the same way up and cut and join/crimp one wire at a time using the metal joiners provided, the plastic covers are then shrunk with a heat gun to seal and strengthen the joint,You will note that the new wiring
has two wires to some terminals , these still join to the appropriate single wire you have cut. This job at first seems daunting but now is routine for me ,i have repaired loads, make sure you fit a new resistor unit.Hope this helps.
p.s Cant believe Renault making them looms all the same colour....How amateur is that !!!!!!

Does anyone have a cheap source for these parts? Renault quoted me £96 +VAT and I have seen the resistor pack and loom together on ebay for £95 plus £5 postage.
I did speak to customer services and asked if they could subsidize the cost at all as it seems to be a common fault. Big fat NO!

They quoted me over £400 to do the work. As I explained to the nice lady from customer services, I want to do the work myself so that a: I know its done properly, b: the car won't come back with more faults than it went in with and c: I can do it in an evening without any need for dropping the car off and picking it up again from my nearest dealer 20 miles away.

Just done my Grand Scenic 2006 after testing and seeing fuse on the resistor was still working and no sign of overheating

Simply removed the dial facia surround and pushed lcd panel to one side. Unscrewed single screw holding the resistor unit in place. Cut the 2 wires andthem simply crimped them on to the replacement unit from ebay £12

Job done with in 18 minutes and all for £12........ No more freezing missus

Hello Renault forums. I have just successfully fitted the resistor and loom to my 05 Renault grand scenic. While working in the small gap next to the dashboard display I have encountered a problem however. A very small plug its wires wrapped in foam that was connected deep behind the dashboard has come disconnected.I cannot feel where to replace it neither do I know what it is for can anybody help.
Thanks in advance Bryan

Did you get any response about the wire, as I have the same issue.....

Hi Nottnoc Thankyou. Just tried them and both seem ok. Also checked light sensor water sensor and all interior electrics. And while looking at the dash display all seems fine. Could it be a wire for something my model doesn't have?
Regards Bryan
It could indeed.
Lets hope some other "experts" Happen by & can shed some light on this.
